End October 2006
Dear Dr. Weidmann,
I was very pleased to read your open letter to the NETWORK members as it shows that our NETWORK is very much on the ball and pays due regard to current challenges.
Your logic seems to me correct. I've laboured through several mesotherapy training courses and was more than surprised to find the lecturer's statements to be scientifically unfounded. It should be emphasised that there are no doubt major differences here.
Particularly in view of your great experience in dermatological aesthetic medicine I'd suggest you ought to belong to the expert commission if your time allows.
To my mind Dr. Philippe Petit of Bordeaux ought to be invited to be a member as well. We should also contact the International Mesotherapy Association and invite them to participate in our project so that we can exclude possible harmful competition from the start.
I'd be happy to initiate this contact as NETWORK director.
The proposals and suggested procedure in your letter seem to me the right ones.
It only remains, therefore, for me to wish you every success in your efforts to draft generally valid standards as for lipolysis. Exploiting the experience we already have to do so seems to me an excellent idea, as there is no need to invent the wheel twice.
Dr. Franz Hasengschwandtner
Medical and Scientific Director
